Thought I would share a few pictures of some projects we've been working on here at the resort.  We knew it was difficult for some of us to get into the lake, so we went and obtained a permit to put in a small beach.  I'm sure the kids are going to love it!  Also, below you will notice what else we have added to the resort.  It's a work in progress, but when it's finished it will be a nice sand volleyball court.  Guess we'll have to add volleyball games to our many contests we have throughout the summer too :)

Hello from the great white up north!!  Hoping everyone enjoyed their Thanksgiving Holiday.  We were very thankful to go to my parents on Wednesday night and spend the night with them.  We then got up and were able to witness my mom, and our 2 daughters do their first 5K race in Minneapolis, MN on Thanksgiving morning.  How great it was to see such accomplishments.  They were joined in the walk/run race with my 2nd youngest brother and his girlfriend who are pros at this race deal.  I'm hoping to join in the ranks within the year.  I have issues with my feet and will be starting physical therapy this week.  Really not looking forward to that, but ya know, ya gotta do what ya gotta do :)....  Then on Friday we were thankful again to join Paul's family for the day.  Had a great time and was able to unwind and really relax and take it all in.  Came home to a winter wonderland and now trying to get organized for Christmas.  We are excited to be hosting our first Christmas here at the resort with our family(s).  Trying to find new ways to decorate in a different home is a bit of a challenge.  Downsizing is quite the adjustment, guess I have to downsize the personal items to accommodate for the smaller space. :(....   Good luck!  ha!
We have been busy redoing Cabin #7 with new insulation, siding, windows and a wall air conditioner unit.  New flooring will be going in soon and then I get to decorate that!  Yea, so excited.  Thanks to my mom who has been very helpful with helping me pick out things for the cabin.
Hoping to hear from you soon.  Miss everyone so much, and looking forward to new guests this next season and add them to the family.
Take care and God Bless you all!
Love, Veda

As I sit here and think back on all that has happened since the last posting, it's no wonder people don't get time to keep up their blogs.  I'm hoping not to be 'one of those', but please forgive my absence when I can't get on here to write.
We have 2 nice ladies from Wisconsin here visiting the resort.  They are no strangers to Nokay Lake we find out.  Their Aunt used to own Nokay Lake Resort on this lake and they are here reminiscing of the good ole days spending their summers on the lake.  They are also catching up with relatives that live in Brainerd.  How nice for them to get together again and listening to their laughs is all I need to hear.
We had to say good bye to another RV couple for the season.  They are on their way back to Arkansas and I really hope this winter goes fast so they can return to us!  Missing them dearly already....
The resort has been contemplating on making some upgrades here.  As of now, it looks as there will be a new shed going in and some repairs to be done to the cabins.  That will be a great start for this winter.  Should keep us busy at least.  Keep checking back on those changes.
The weather has been a bit breezy the past few days.  Tonight has finally turned around to be a beautiful night.  Looks like my son A.J. will be coming up this weekend to visit.  Always good when one of the kids comes home to visit.  For you that don't know us, we have 3 kids, A.J. (24), Katie (19) and Ashlyn (18).  A.J. works in the cities in computers and the girls are in college.  They like to keep me on my toes :)  But I love every minute of it.
I had better get on to other stuff here and settle down for the night.
Take care and God Bless,
Veda

First New Blog!

Hello from Twin Oaks Resort & RV Park.  This is the first blog for the resorts web site AND my first blog ever!  So I'm hoping this is beneficial and hope to hear feedback from YOU :)   (of course any feedback concerning spelling errors are not exactly what I was looking for, ha ha)  Hoping this to be a fun place for us to keep in touch in any way or matter.
Where to start???  Paul and I took over the resort as of May 15th, 2012 and it has been so interesting to learn the resort business.  It's hard to believe that when we were looking at purchasing this resort, we hadn't meet one occupant from the RV park or seen Nokay Lake without ice on it!  What a blessing it has turned out to be knowing each of our RV'ers and waking up to God's beautiful creation every morning.  He lead us in the right direction and we are so thankful.
We've had so much fun here this summer with bean bag tournaments, ladder ball (Paul Bunyan style) tournaments, bass fishing tournaments, release to the grease (fishing) tournaments, pot lucks, karaoke, movie nights....  Wow!!  And so much more. To the people here that coordinated each event, THANK YOU!  We couldn't have done it without you.  I just can't thank, Coach, Jerry, Dorothy, Lynn, Angela, Joe, Katie, Ben, Mike, Virgil, Donna, and so many more, enough for all that they have done to help make all the events happen here.
Yesterday was kind of a sad day to start saying good byes to the RV people.  I'm not real good at good byes, but who would have thunk that we would get so attached to these kind folks in such a short time.  I mentioned to Paul that maybe I should take off from about September 1 to October 15 to avoid the good byes.  Of course I just got "the look"...    But blessings happen more than we know.  And with our many prayers out to each of our visitors and RV people from near and (very) far, they will have safe journeys back to their homes and return safely to us in the spring.
Many changes will be taking place here over the next year or so at the resort.  Started with planting trees down on the 'tarmac'.  Looking a little bit more homey down there now.  For those that don't know what the tarmac is, it's the newest area of the RV park.  It needed some sprucing up, we just did it with maples.
Signing off for now.  Please feel free to write comments to keep us posted on how you are doing.
Blessings to all,
Veda
